His decision has led to having the Conservative whip removed.

Now disgraced former Health Secretary Matt Hancock is to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

During the pandemic, Mr Hancock famously said he didn’t know how many nurses had died and repeatedly told the public NHS services had enough personal protective equipment (PPE).

His decision to appear on the show led to the Conservative whip being whip removed, effectively expelling him from the party.

Justifying his decision, Mr Hancock told the Sun newspaper, “It’s our job as politicians to go to where the people are – not to sit in ivory towers in Westminster.”

Mr Hancock quit as Health Secretary after admitting a breach of the lockdown rules he imposed on the country.

Sauntering off to the jungle.

Nursquickly called to call out Mr Hancock’s decision to appear on the programme.

Janet, a nurse in the Midlands, pointed out Mr Hancock would likely continue to be paid as an MP by the taxpayer while taking a substantial payment for appearing on the show.

Nurses United even suggested Mr Hancock “should never be seen in public life again”.

Lead organiser for the group, Anthony Johnson, said in a statement, “Even sauntering off into the Jungle won’t rehabilitate that man. He and the Conservative party failed to prepare us for the pandemic.

“When nurses’ lives were at risk because of a lack of PPE, he gaslit them whilst giving PPE contracts to his mates.

“Matt Hancock should never be seen in public life again – what we need is justice, not reality TV.
